The Creative Brain Behind QCUK

Hey hey! I'm Maria, creative brain behind QuirkiestCreationsUK. When I'm not making jewellery I'm watching Greys Anatomy for the millionth time, listening to Taylor Swift or chasing after my two gorgeous baby boys at soft play or playgroup. I absolutely love making jewellery and accessories and the fact that anyone buys or supports my small business honestly makes me so ridiculously happy, that "cha-ching" notification is music to my ears!!

How it all began...

Ive always loved jewellery, and I'd often spend my birthday money in Claire’s picking out the funky earrings or the rubber duck necklaces, the more unique the better. I'd make loom band bracelets with the brightest of colours, and was always drawn to the unique pieces I'd find in charity shops or Primark that were often on sale!

Fast forward to the infamous lockdown of 2020 and I decided to spend my time teaching myself how to make jewellery. A few mistakes and mishaps later, I started sending them to friends who suggested I'd sell them on Depop for others, which I did and I was overwhelmed by the love and support. I moved onto Etsy and started to take it a bit more seriously, sourcing the best quality supplies I could use for my designs. I made a few mistakes along the line, packages went missing and I had a few negative reviews but they all helped me find solutions down the line and fix the little things that weren't quite there so I am grateful for that learning curve, and every opportunity I have to improve!

After that, well the rest is history!

My Brand

QCUK is very much for the people who like unique and funky accessories, the ones who use jewellery to showcase their personality. They're very niche, they're not everyone's style but just like marmite, you either love them or hate them, and I'm happy with either!

All my ideas are handmade with love, and often the weirdest of earrings are ideas I've formed at 10pm at night! I always make a "test pair" so I can trial them in terms of comfort, durability & functionality, and they're always jewellery I'd buy or wear myself so you can be absolutely certain that you're getting a quality product.

My biggest challenge has been sourcing hypoallergenic components for the most sensitive of ears. I myself suffer with incredibly sensitive ears & there's absolutely nothing worse than uncomfortable accessories! Whilst I cannot 100% guarantee they won't impact your ears on a personal basis, I can vouch I only use hypoallergenic materials that I've tested myself and found comfortable.

As I'm self taught I'm constantly learning, evolving and growing through my business & creations, and I appreciate any and all support along the way. This is my passion, a way to express my personality and creativity and the fact that anyone could support what I do means so much more than I'll ever be able to convey. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for QCUK & I thank you for joining me on this journey.
